Towering skyscrapers are a staple of Southeast Asian skylines and provide much-needed housing solutions in dense cities, but the attraction of urban life and increasing accommodation shortages present a great challenge to architects.
The Vertical Village was born from the desire to see beyond standard apartment blocks and create innovative solutions to create real comfort for residents and add value to neighbourhoods.
The exterior design is inspired by the sugar refineries of the client, Khanh Hoi Sugar Company, visually describing the process from raw material to finished product. An elevated horizontal cube forms the base and functions as a community and conference centre, while a vertical column soars up to 100m at ninety degrees from the cube for optimal views. All the amenities necessary to comfortable urban living a just a short walk away.
